The West Hazleton manufacturing site supports Henkel’s Beauty Care and Laundry Care businesses, where frontline employees work to produce essential household products, currently in high demand to help combat the COVID-19 virus. Home to over 180 employees, the 272,000 square-foot facility operates multiple production lines, making Dial® brand liquid and foaming hand soap, Dial® for Men and Tone® body wash, and Purex® laundry detergent.
Originally constructed in 1969, the location was a die-making facility for yarn and crochet kits. Purchased by Dial Corp. in 1987, the plant started producing former Dial® brands like Parsons’® ammonia and Brillo® steel wool pads, as well as soap products. In 2004, Henkel acquired Dial® and the facility officially became a Henkel plant. Most recently in 2019, West Hazleton announced a $19 million investment in the expansion of the facility, enabling enhanced production capabilities.
West Hazleton employees give freely of their time and participate in many worthy community causes such as Relay for Life bingo to support the American Cancer Society, fundraising for the Greater Hazleton United Way, and adopting a local family at Christmas to provide gifts and household items.
Due to the dedicated efforts of employees at the West Hazleton site, including Jerry Kohler and Cindy Mirarchi, Henkel has been able to continue providing in-demand essential products to customers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
