It was a glittering night for the professional salon industry, when Rylan Clark-Neal presented this year’s Hairdressers’ Journal British Hairdressing Awards, which was sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional for the 34th year.
Sponsored by Schwarzkopf, these awards are much coveted by salon professionals from all over the UK, and many talented hairdressers strive for years to prove both their colour and styling prowess in order to win. The sponsorship is a key pillar in Beauty Care Professional’s strategy to ensure the brand is associated with the very best in the hair styling and colour industry.
The show started with a dramatic showcase from our Schwarzkopf Professional ambassadors Lesley Jennison and Tyler Johnston. Their opening presentation – A Celebration of Colour – featured no wigs, no wefts and no trickery – just brilliant, creative, colourful hair. Playing with optical illusions, contrasting shades and hand-painted details, this was hairdressing at its finest, and served as the perfect starting point for an evening packed with inspiration.
Rylan Clark-Neal rushed from his live ‘Strictly: It Takes Two’ broadcast to be at the Grosvenor to host the awards. He was the perfect presenter; full of typical Rylan jokes but genuine warmth and congratulations for each winner. Entertainment was provided by Brit Band, Hoosiers, who had the crowd dancing and singing along.
And then came the main event: the awards. Schwarzkopf Professional General Manager, Julian Crane, presented each award with Jayne Lewis-Orr, Executive Director and Laura Husband, Editor, both from Hairdressers’ Journal. The British Hairdressing Awards is all about celebrating the very best in the business – and this year, there were four Schwarzkopf ambassadors in the winning line up.
